The Coon Rapids City Council has approved plans and specifications and ordered bids for a project to replace a sewer lift station.
As part of the city’s ongoing, five-year sanitary sewer capital improvements program, lift station 3 at 1201 98th Lane N.W. has been chosen for the 2011 project.
According to Public Services Director Steve Gatlin, lift station 3 served a fairly small adjacent area south of East River Road.
“The lift station is at the end of its useful life and needs to be replaced,” Gatlin said.
Work will not only include the lift station replacement, but also a minor relocation, he said.
SEH Inc. was retained by the city at a cost of $68,510 to prepare a preliminary design report, plans and specifications, assist the city in bidding and provide inspection services during the construction, Gatlin said.
The council will be asked to act on the bids at its March 1 meeting.
The project is expected to begin in May and be substantially completed this fall, Gatlin said.
SEH has estimated the cost of the lift station replacement at $421,000.
The sanitary sewer utility fund budget for 2011 has $532,500 allocated for the project.
