Steven Banta

Steven Mehl Banta, 65, died June 27. He was born June 16, 1946.

He is survived by Cheryl Banta; Eva Heyob; daughter, Shannon Banta and her partner Michael Chubb; and grandchildren, Alicia, Evan and Makayla.

Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel.

 

Robert Bosley

Robert Martin Bosley, 78, Cambridge, died July 8. He was born April 14, 1933 in Minneapolis to George L. and Vivian (Montgomery) Bosley and was retired from working in a lumberyard.

Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home.

 

Ronald Carlson

Funeral service for Ronald S. Carlson, 53, Centuria, Wis., formerly of Coon Rapids, took place July 8 at Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel.

Carlson died July 1 in Eureka, Wis. He was born Jan. 11, 1958. He was a retired major in the U.S. Army and worked for the U.S. Postal Service for many years.

He is survived by his daughter, Janis Carlson (Erickson); sons, Miles (Kaisa) Carlson, Ryan Andersen; grandchildren, Alexander and Andrea; father, Walter Carlson; brothers, Walter (Delilah) Carlson Jr. and Patrick (Sue) Carlson; sisters, Debra Lester and Pamela Demmer; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friend.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel.

 

Norman Chilstrom

Memorial service Norman W. Chilstrom, 81, Aitkin, formerly of Anoka, took place July 13 at Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home, Aitkin. Rev. Cynthia Gray officiated.

Chilstrom died July 7 at the Aicota Health Care Center, Aitkin. He was born Dec. 13, 1929 at Isanti to Elmond and Alma (Eagelkraut) Chilstrom. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 and worked for Pacific Mutual Door Co. for over 33 year.

He is survived by his wife, Leona Chilstrom of Aitkin; sister, Darlene J. Shafer of Phoenix, Ariz.; sister-in-law, Shirley Chilstrom of Blaine; niece, Kimberly Ann, nephews: Gary Robert and David Allen; and numerous cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Loren.

Interment will be at Acacia Cemetery, Mendota Heights at a later date. Arrangements were by Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home.

 

Donna Coop

Memorial service for Donna L. Coop, 83, Anoka, will take place tomorrow (Saturday, July 16), noon, with visitation one hour prior to the service at Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel.

She is survived by her daughter, Barb (Tim) Nelson; grandsons, Alex and Nick (Erin); great-granddaughter, Kyrie; sister, Marley Koehler; brother, Doug Walton; and other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred.

Interment will be private. Arrangements are by Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel

Loretta Dioties

Funeral service for Loretta Lorraine Dioties (LaDuke) took place July 9 at Church of the Epiphany, Coon Rapids.

Dioties died July 4 following a brief illness.

She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Leone and Mary; many nieces and nephews; several cousins; and special friends, Carolyn and Millie.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted; mother and father, Nellie and Marty; and brothers, Robert and Charles William.

Interment was private at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel.

 

Lucille Erke

Funeral service for Lucille M. (Chouinard) Erke, 93, Coon Rapids, took place July 11 at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, Blaine.

Erke died July 7.

She is survived by her children, Tom (Joyce), Nancie Gerrety (Sam), Pete (Linda), Mike, Don (Linda) and Ken (Marie); 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her parents; husbands, Pete Chouinard Sr. and Art Erke; and granddaughter, Kendahl.

Interment was at St. Anthony Cemetery, Northeast Minneapolis. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel.

 

Irene Fallon

Memorial service for Irene Fallon (nee Lukoskie), 98, St. Paul, took place July 13 at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, Blaine.

She is survived by her children, James (Jean) Fallon and Carol (Dennis) Cooney; grandchildren, Sean, Shannon (Pat) Schusted, Tara (Jason) Mueller, Brendan (Brittany) and Michael Fallon; great-grandchildren, Cole, Connor, Elle and Ethan; brother, George Lukoskie; and sister, Alice Kisch.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; three brothers; and three sisters.

Interment was at Resurrection Cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel.

 

Donald Graff

Memorial service for Donald T. “Punch” Graff, 80, New Brighton, took place July 6 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Brighton.

He is survived by his brothers, Robert (Darlene) of Duluth, Richard (Marlys) of Circle Pines; sisters, Phyllis Daniels of O’Fallon, Ill., Mary Jane Dahlgren of Fridley, Jean Spates of Benson and Patsy Fog (Jorgen) of Shoreview; and 31 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Hattie; and sister, Grace Arboe.

Interment was at St. John’s Cemetery, New Brighton. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel.

 

Richard Horn

Funeral service for Richard N. Horn, 60, Coon Rapids, took place July 6 at Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne; children, Jerilyn Pipenhagen, Roberta (Brian) Thunborg, Jerred (Erica) Horn, Reese Horn, Carl Enger, Nick Enger, Emma Enger; six grandchildren; sister, Karen (Bert) Hodgman; brothers, Russell (Judy) and Gerry (Cyndy) Horn; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Norb and Joyce Horn.

Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel.

 

Gary Hostetler

Memorial service for Gary R. Hostetler, 81, Mounds View, took place July 6 at Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel.

Hostetler died July 1. He was born April 4, 1930 and served in the Korean War in the U.S. Marine Corps as a staff sergeant. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn (Kay) Hostetler; sons, Bruce (Ellen) Hostetler, Mark Hostetler, Kent Hostetler; daughter, Linda (Mike) Grabow; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sisters, LouCretia Cherney and Kitty Sue Arndt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vern and Gwen Hostetler; and daughter-in-law, Kyla Hostetler.

Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel.

 

John Johnson

Memorial service John (Jack) C. Johnson, 64. Anoka, took place July 11 at Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Anoka.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughter, Lori (Dave) Dunbar; granddaughters, Heather and Samantha; four brothers; and a large extended family and many friends.

Arrangements were by Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Anoka Chapel.

 

William Johnson

Funeral service for William F. Johnson, 74, Ramsey, took place July 6 at Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Anoka.

He is survived by his children, Mary (Dan) Sybrant, Beth Johnson and Bill (Heather); seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and brother, Walter (Shirley).

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn.

Arrangements were by Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Anoka.

 

Barbara Kunshier

Funeral service for Barbara Jean Kunshier, 67, Coon Rapids, took place July 8 at Thurston-DeShaw Funeral Home, Andover. Rev. Richard Steinholtz officiated.

Kunshier died July 5 at Select Services Assisted Living, Coon Rapids. She was born Sept. 5, 1943 in St. Paul to Harold Carl and Bertha Carrine (Martenson) Brink. She was a teacher in the Osseo School District for 10 years.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth G. Kunshier; daughters, Debra Kreun-Kunshier and Lydia (Kirk) Brahs; sisters, Kaye (Terry) Myhre and Arly (Ron) Peltier; grandchildren, Brittany Kreun (fiance Dustin Stolp), Lauren and Nicholas Brahs; great-grandchildren, Jordan Sullivan and Dustin Stolp Jr.; and nieces and nephews, John, Jeff, Mindy, Mike and Mark Myhre, Jean Paul Peltier and Janee Katz.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Bertha Brink.

Pallbearers were Jean Paul Peltier, John, Jeff, Mike and Mark Myhre and Nicholas Brahs.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-DeShaw Funeral Home, Andover.

 

Earl Norgren

Funeral service for Earl Donald Norgren, 78, Coon Rapids, took place July 11 at Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.

Norgren died July 6. He was born July 1, 1933 in French Lake to Frank Norgren and Julia Odlien and was a retired laborer at Northrup King.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; stepson, Robbie (Kelly) Annis; grandsons, Scott Annis and Joshua (Suzi) Annis; sisters, Ethel and Gladys (Ray); and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home.

 

Donna Swanson

Funeral service for Donna Mae Swanson, 84, Otsego, took place July 13 at St. Francis United Methodist Church. Rev. Diane Nelson officiated.

Swanson died July 10 at Mercy Hospital. She was born Dec. 9, 1926 in St. Francis to Paul and Alice (Lee) Morton.

She is survived by her husband, Richard “Dick;” children, Barry (Bonnie), Lynn (Stevie) and Sandy (Jerry) Kowal; grandchildren, Brandon, Meghan, Nicole, Ryan, Richard, Kaitlyn; great-grandchildren, Grant and Gabrielle; four sisters; three brothers; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Alice Morton; and brothers, Doug, Clinton and Stan Morton.

Pallbearers were Brandon and Ryan Swanson, Richard Kowal, Rodney and Terry Nutter and Fred Morton.

Interment was at West Oak Grove Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

 

John Wolfe

Memorial service for John Robert Wolfe, 78, Coon Rapids, will take place tomorrow (Saturday, July 16), 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service at Coon Rapids United Methodist Church.

Wolfe died July 2. He was born July 20, 1932 in Dassel. After serving two years in the U.S. Army, he taught industrial arts in Waseca, Pine River and for 24 years at Coon Rapids High School. He was a member of the Coon Rapids Kiwanis Club, serving as president from 1995-1997. He was the recipient of a donor heart in 1993 and a kidney from his daughter, Ruth, in 2001

He is survived by his wife, Milly; children, Ronald, Leslie (Rob) Zimmer, Ann Piazza, Ruth (Rick) Elling, Mary Sue (Chris) Jensen, Anthony (Susan); 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Fred; sister, Gretchen Miles; and nieces, nephews and good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Marion; sisters, and Kathryn Draheim and Ruth Wolfe.

Arrangements were by the Cremation Society of Minnesota.

 

Paul Zook

Graveside service for Paul Zook, 86, Anoka, took place July 13 at Calvary Cemetery, Anoka.

Zook died July 5 at Maranatha Care Center, Brooklyn Center. He was born Feb. 12, 1925 in Minneapolis to Vincent and Anna Zook and was retired from Federal Cartridge after 28 years as a machine operator.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Anna Zook; and brother, Vincent Zook Jr.

Interment was at Calvary Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
