You will not need to haul your computer into some store, however. Shana and John Schmitz or one of their three part-time technicians will drive to your home or business.
Teks On-Site is a new business that will serve residential and business customers all over Anoka County and perhaps outside of the county as well. There is no mileage fee passed onto the customer. The customers are charged a flat rate.
Residential customers and non-profit organizations that need help from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on a weekday or from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on a weekend would pay $65 per hour while businesses would pay $95 per hour. If a technician needs to come to a home or business outside of those business hours, the hourly fee is $145 whether a residential, non-profit or business customer, according to Shana Schmitz.
Teks On-Site will be offering $25 off from the first hour of service now through Aug. 31.
Past the first hour, customers would be charged in quarter-hour increments.
John Schmitz has worked in the information technology industry for the last 20 years. Shana Schmitz’ background is in the non-profit and corporate world.
Shana Schmitz said even though there are other computer repair people out there, their friends and neighbors would regularly call her husband with a computer question. The Schmitzes know some people do not want to bring their computer to a business storefront to be repaired and would rather have the technician come to them. Thus, the idea for Teks On-Site was born.
Virus infections and data loss are the problems the Schmitzes hear about or expect to hear about the most. Shana Schmitz said viruses become a problem when the user does not regularly update their software to the latest version. The pain of losing all data from a computer can be solved by having back-up discs or a back-up hard drive, she said.
Teks On-Site can help you whether you have a PC or a Macintosh computer. If your printer or other computer hardware is not working, they can help with that as well.
Appointments can be made for a weekday, weekend and in the day or evening depending on what works best for the client. To schedule an appointment, call 763-434-3262.
