While many companies have been struggling during the recession, DSTI has thrived. The Andover company’s revenue has increased 161 percent from $6.4 million in 2007 to $16.6 million in 2010, according to company spokesperson Chris Larson. As revenue grew, so did the number of employees. At the beginning of 2007, DSTI had about 20 employees.
This growth ranked DSTI as 45th fastest growing private manufacturing company in America for 2011, according to Inc. Magazine. DSTI was the 26th fastest-growing private company in the Minneapolis metro area.
The Andover company designs and manufacturers rotary union products used to provide reliable fluid transfer for rotating applications including medical, aerospace and defense, oil and gas, food and beverage packaging and alternative energy. The company currently exports products to over 35 countries.
DSTI’s President and Founder Jeff Meister said his company’s continued growth and success is in large part due to the focus on continual design innovation, process improvements and close communications with customers.
“We have never deviated from our business strategy,” Meister said. “As a company, we are constantly researching new ways to improve our processes and adapt our products and services to meet the challenges of our customers’ applications.”
To continue to improve its company, DSTI is in the middle of doubling its building space. A 43,000 square-foot addition to bring DSTI’s facility in Andover Station North to 80,000 square feet is expected to be completed this fall. The company is investing $2.4 million for this expansion of its manufacturing, assembly and testing facilities.
“This expansion marks another existing milestone in the company’s growth and also creates new jobs for the local community,” said General Manager Pat Pastoors.
DSTI, founded in 2002, offers careers in engineering, machining, assembly, quality inspection, sales and customer service.
“We are continually focused on recruiting highly skilled employees providing excellent salary, benefits and a culture where individual growth is the foundation for company growth,” Pastoors said.
