Blaine Lions donate gifts

Blaine Lions, wives and guests visited the Lino Lakes Diagnostic Center in December for a Christmas party in one of the boys’ cottages. Santa came bearing gifts from the Lions which included an electric toaster, blender, mixer, griddle, and a deep fryer-popcorn popper combination. Then the boys dug into the huge assortment of cookies, breads, bars, fruit, candy, pop.

District 16 facing cuts with optimism

Though the financial picture in Spring Lake Park School District 16 is far from rosy, the school district is not hurting as much at the present time financially as some of its neighboring districts.

But the district has been informed that due to the state’s cash flow problem, the December aid payments have been processed at a reduced rate based on the department’s estimate of district cash flow need, and that need for District 16 has amounted to zero dollars. The normal payment of aids to the district would have amounted to $681,556.85.
