Edith Anderson

Funeral service for Edith Vivian “Edie” Anderson, 89, Blaine, took place Jan. 11 at Eaglebrook Church, Spring Lake Park.

Anderson died Jan. 4.

She is survived by her sister, Alice Peterson; daughters, Cheryl (Skip) Stewart, Judy (Jerry) Lawson, Linda (Larry) Boen, Nancy (Greg) Waalen, Becky (Terry) Waalen; son, Jeffrey Anderson and daughter-in-law Mary Anderson; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Sofi Gustafson; husband, Irving Anderson; and son, Steven Anderson.

Interment was private at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minneapolis. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel.

 

Michelle Aulwes

Funeral service for Michelle S. Aulwes, 68, Coon Rapids, took place Jan. 3 at Church of the Epiphany, Coon Rapids. Rev. Dennis Zehren officiated.

Aulwes died Dec. 23. She was born March 25, 1943 in Bloomington.

She is survived by her children, Anthony Aulwes and Melinda (Sean) Daily; grandchildren, Emma, Cortland, Lauren, Isabella, Ava, Sebastian and Lynn; brother, Jason; ex-husband, Dr. Thomas Aulwes; and other relatives and friends.

Carole Benson

Memorial service for Carole “Sue” Guyot Benson, 67, Blaine, formerly of Ham Lake and Versailles, Ky., will take place tomorrow (Saturday, Jan. 14), 11 a.m., at Kozlak-Radulovich Blaine Chapel with visitation at 10 a.m.

Benson died Jan. 4 after a brief battle with lung cancer. She was born Nov. 20, 1944 in Lombard, Ill. She worked as a teacher, an insurance secretary, an election judge and a workers compensation ombudsman.

She is survived by her children, Karen (Jason) Hartmann of Blaine, Michael Benson of Chicago Ill., Anne (Tom) Pairan of Mahnomen; grandchildren: Benson and Olivia Hartmann and Jonathan Pairan; brother, Bill Guyot of Bradenton, Fla.; ex-husband Fred Benson of Nicholasville, Ky.; and friends and former co-workers.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda; parents, William and Annie (Smigoski) Guyot; and friends and relatives.

Mary Cameron

Graveside service for Mary Belle Cameron, 92, Anoka, will take place in the spring.

Cameron died Dec. 31 at Anoka Care Center. She was born Nov. 8, 1919 in Pierpont, S.D., to George Alfred and Ruth Alfreida (Pederson) Cameron. She was a retired bookkeeper at Daytons, a Sunday School teacher at Zion Lutheran Church for over 50 years and a member of the Anoka American Legion Auxiliary, Mercy Hospital Auxiliary, Eastern Star and Job’s Daughters.

She is survived by her siblings, Betty Gruye and Ralph (Jean) Cameron; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Bruce Cameron.

Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements are by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

 

Ethel Cartwright

Funeral service for Ethel Idella Cartwright, 94, Anoka, took place Jan. 5 at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Norman R. Berg officiated.

Cartwright died Jan. 2 at River Oaks Assisted Living, Anoka. She was born Aug. 21, 1917 in Isle to Jay and Esmerelda (Dixon) Farnum.

She is survived by her children, Carol (John) Daly, Virgil (Joan), Pamela (Tom) Gorman and Kathleen Theis (Donny Gulso); nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister, Audrey Nelson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey; and grandson, Harlan Daly.

Pallbearers were Joe Boots, Brian and Jerry Theis, Donald Gulso, Tom Gorman and John Daly.

Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

 

Tina Celestino

Funeral service for Tina Celestino, 85, Maplewood, took place Jan. 5 at Church of the Epiphany, Coon Rapids. Rev. Alex Carlson officiated.

Celestino died Dec. 29 in Woodbury. She was born June 10, 1926 in Naples, Italy, to Mateo and Anna Maria Anastasio and was a retired assembler at Plastics Inc.

She is survived by her children, Ann Warnke, Jim (Sheryl), Mark, Angy (Dennis) Duchesneau; daughters-in-law, Karen and Barbara; grandchildren, Kim (Andrew), Kevin, Daniel (Amanda), Christopher (Jillian), Elissa (Jerad), Dawson, Mandylen, Kathy; and great-grandchildren, Ella, Emma, William, Allyson and Brendon.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony; and son, Joseph.

Denis Cree

Funeral service for Denis E. Cree, 81, Coon Rapids, took place Jan. 7 at Church of the Epiphany, Coon Rapids. Rev. Dennis Zehren officiated.

Creek died Dec. 25. He was born March 9, 1930 in Osceola, Wis., to Earl Cree and Ava Clark and was a retired machinist at American Can Co.

He is survived by his wife, Hilde; sons, Mark (Nancy), Mitch (Julie), Steve (Melanie); brothers, Bill (Jan), Roger (Jo); sister, Dorothy Butler; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Gloria; and brother, Jerry.

Bonnie Dobis

Memorial service for Bonnie S. Dobis, 81, Spring Lake Park, took place Jan. 5 at Kozlak-Radulovich Blaine Chapel.

Dobis died Dec. 30. She was born Jan. 8, 1930.

She is survived by her husband, Cyril L.; children, Steve Dobis, Jeanne Manseau, Diane (Bob) Dotzler and Pauline (Mike) Danielson; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren

She was preceded by her father and mother, Sy and Bernice Anderson; and brother: John Anderson.

Gannon died Jan. 2. She was born Nov. 26, 1936.

Funeral service for Dorothy L. Gates, 86, Buffalo, formerly of Minneapolis, took place Jan. 2 at Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (George) Dolan; grandchildren, Kristine (Rod) Haney and Ryan Dolan; and great-grandchildren, Grace and Hogan Haney.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard.

Royhl Hedblad

Funeral service for Royhl C. Hedblad, 86, Anoka, formerly of Columbia Heights, will take place today (Friday, Jan. 13), 11 a.m., at First Baptist Church of Anoka with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.

Hedblad died Jan. 6. He was born Dec. 26, 1925 in Lake Norden, S.D., on the family farm. He was a Columbia Heights Police officer for 20 years, then spent 11 years as an investigator with the Anoka County Attorney’s Office.

He is survived by his wife, Ormelle; son, Ron (Kelly) Hedblad; daughter, Diane Kinde, Linda (Gary) Smith, Joan (Mark) Shadduck and Lona (Cory) Kampf; grandchildren, Todd (Nancy) Kinde, Wayne (Christa) Kinde, Paul (Randi) Smith, Krista, Johnathon and David Shadduck, Mitchell and Amy Kampf, Joseph and Taylor Smith; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and three sisters.

Alfred Jensen

Memorial service for Alfred D. “Don” Jensen, 83, Ramsey, took place Jan. 4 at Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. Bob Johnson officiated.

Jensen was a veteran of the United States Army.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; son, Frank, daughter, Terri (Jeff); grandchildren, Sara, Kristy, Jeffrey, Michael and Jacob; great-granddaughter, Aleyah; and other family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and four siblings.

LaMar Joyce

He was preceded in death by his sister, Delores Martinson; brother, Donald Joyce; and stepbrother, Robert Joyce.

Elizabeth Keur

Memorial service for Elizabeth Ferne Keur, 94, Arden Hills, will take place tomorrow (Saturday, Jan. 14), 11 a.m., at Salem Covenant Church, New Brighton. Rev. Mark Pattie will officiate.

Keur died Dec. 26 at Presbyterian Home of Arden Hills. She was born April 29, 1917 in Waterloo, Iowa, to James Henderson and Elizabeth Emma (Clothier) Pennington and was a retired credit clerk at Sears.

She is survived by her children, Don (Connie) Keur, Cathy (Darryl) Peterson; grandchildren, Jason, Michelle and Christine Peterson; and sister-in-law, Margot Keur.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cornelius.

Interment will be at East Rest Haven Park Cemetery, Phoenix, Ariz. Arrangements are by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

 

Ramona McGovern

Funeral service for Ramona Lynn McGovern, 58, Anoka, took place Jan. 10 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Anoka. Rev. Nathan LaLiberte officiated.

McGovern died Jan. 5. She was born March 3, 1953 in Thief River Falls to Raymond Floyd and Verda (Jelli) Maidment and was manager at Naturalizer Shoes in the Albertville Mall.

She is survived by her husband, Tom; children, Veronica (Steve) Keeney and Tom; mother, Verda Maidment; brothers, Joe, Greg, Lee and Steve Maidment; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Maidment; twin sister, Renae Olsen; and niece, Dawn Ankney.

Pallbearers were Thomas McGovern, Joe, Greg, Lee and Steve Maidment, Jim Olsen and Steve Keeney.

William Orn

Funeral service for William R. “Bill” Orn, 93, Coon Rapids, took place Jan. 7 at Peace Lutheran Church, Coon Rapids.

Orn died Jan. 3. He was a World War II Army veteran, past member of the Finnish-American Society and volunteer with Red Cross, Thrivent, Meals on Wheels and a 50-plus year member of Peace Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Marguerite; sons, William Jr. (Lisa Holt), Gerald (Cheryl) and Roger (Elaine); son-in-law, Robert Doran; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard (Julie) and Howard (Ann); and a large extended family.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Katherine Doran.

Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.

 

Diane Refshaw

Memorial service for Diane C. Refshaw, 68, Brooklyn Center, formerly of Fridley, took place Jan. 3 at Fridley United Methodist Church.

Refshaw died Dec. 24 of Alzheimer’s. She was born Sept. 2, 1943 and was a registered nurse, working first in pediatrics at Hennepin County Medical Center, then for Tamarisk, a volunteer hospice organization.

She is survived by her daughters, Brenda (George) Spanovich, Tracy (Ron) Stenstrom, Sherryl Smith; siblings, Joan (Bob) Wallace, Mark Moothart; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; and parents, Edwin and Adeline Moothart.

 

Lyle Rideout

Memorial service for Lyle E. Rideout, 65, Cedar, took place Jan. 5 at Kozlak-Radulovich Blaine Chapel.

Rideout died Dec. 28. He was born Sept. 6, 1946.

Steinke died Jan. 3 at Anoka Care Center. She was born May 4, 1924 in Minneapolis to Chester and Emma Gonse and was retired from Federal Cartridge.

She is survived by her husband, Louis; children, Cynthia (Brian) Staehle, Wayne (Pam) Steinke, Gary (Sandra) Steinke and Norris (Deb) Steinke; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
