Even though there isn’t enough snow to go for a good ride, the Blue Smoke Vintage Snowmobile Show and Swap will be going ahead this weekend.
The show and swap featuring antique sleds will run from 11 a.m. until the awards ceremony at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21. at the Anoka County Fairgrounds.
In addition to the show and awards there will be food and beverages available at the fairgrounds all day, including hot dogs, buns and s’mores for roasting over a bonfire.
A warming shelter will be on site with warm restrooms, cold beer being poured by the Lions club and a wine tasting by Better Values Liquor.
Blaine-based Trail Tamer will also be at Saturday’s show with accessories for sale. Trail Tamer is a power sports supplier of parts, clothing, helmets and accessories for snowmobile, ATV, motorcycle, marine, PWC and RV vehicles. Trail Tamer also services most snowmobiles and ATVs.
Admission is free, although there is a fee to participate in the vintage sled show. People can register for $15 on the day of the event. Proceeds will be donated to area charities identified by the local mayors participating in the Mayors Trail Ride, which has been postponed until Feb. 11.
There will be cash prizes for best in class for both restored and unrestored snowmobiles. Those classes include from 1968 and older, 1969 to 1973 and 1974 and up.
