Students at Eisenhower Elementary School, Coon Rapids, are digging into their piggy banks and bringing in change to benefit recipients of the school’s Kookies Penny Drive.

January donations will go to the Coon Rapids North Star Lions Club and as a thank you, Tim Farmer and Terry Hedberg of the club served lunch to students Jan. 13.

Donations in December, totaling $33.82, went to the Christmas Committee. February donations will benefit the American Cancer Society.

Students bring donations and deposit them in a collection jar in the cafeteria as part of the penny drive, which runs September through April.
