Blaine’s first Winterama scheduled this weekend

The Blaine Residents Association, Inc., a civic organization in the northern-most suburbs of Blaine, is featuring its first “Winterama.”

Many groups and organizations throughout the city will be featuring winter activities during the Winterama to make it an all out community weekend for the entire family. The program will provide a variety of fun spectaculars.

Friday, Jan. 21, teenagers will have Teen Day. A hayride will begin at 6 p.m. at Blaine city hall and meander to Westwood school. After the hayride, there will be the Teen dance starting at 7:30 p.m. at Westwood school where two bands will play until 10:30 p.m.

SLP to hike water hook-up rates

Spring Lake Park City Council gave preliminary approval Monday night to an ordinance change raising the city’s water connection fee to residents to $525.

The increase, recommended by city engineer Joe Anderlik, would allow the city to recover costs involved in hooking up a residence not on the city’s water system.

District 16 begins search for new board member

With the resignation of District 16 School Board Member Daniel Perzel in December, the search for a replacement has become one of the board’s first tasks of 1992.

Perzel had been considering resigning from the board for some time. The two biggest factors that prompted his resignation, he said, were increased demands on his time stemming from changes in his professional and private life.
