Boys’ Hockey
Anoka 5, Osseo 2
Three special team goals and three points from Anders Skaalerud helped Anoka top Osseo 5-2 in Osseo Jan. 26.

Anoka scored twice in the first and third periods with both first period goals coming by way of special-team play as the Tornadoes were out shot 27-22.

Skaalerud made it 1-0 for the Tornadoes 1:57 into the contest on a power play goal with assists going to Kristian Manthey and Cal Grinde. Grinde put Anoka ahead 2-0 at the 6:16 mark with a shorthanded goal.

Each team also took a checking from behind five minute major and 10 misconduct penalty in the first period as 52 penalty minutes were handed out in the game.

Anoka 7, North Metro 2
Anoka scored six times in the third period to surge past North Metro in Anoka Jan. 21.

Chase West scored twice in the final period, including the eventual game winner 16 seconds after he set up Ryan Peterson at the 7:14 mark to give him a three-point period. Austin Parent and Peterson had one goal and assist while Jordan Peterson added two assists. Anoka goalie Lane Kocovsky had 16 saves in the win.


Maple Grove 4, Blaine 2
Maple Grove swept the season series against Blaine Thursday night with a balanced attack which outshot the Bengals 38-19.

Dylan Lambert put the visiting Bengals ahead 1-0 at 5:48 into the contest before the Crimson responded with four unanswered goals including a shorthanded at the 9:01 mark. Blaine’s Ian Scheid scored on the power play in the final six minutes of play in the game for the final score.

Blaine goalie Nick Malvin had 34 saves in the loss while the Bengals were held to 19 shots on goal.

Champlin Park 7, Coon Rapids 5
Coon Rapids scored three times the second period but it wasn’t enough to top Champlin Park in Coon Rapids Jan. 26.

Cardinals defenseman Aleksi Mustaniemi had three points, including his second goal of the game, 22 seconds into the middle period to make it 2-2. Power play goals from Robby Randall and Bobby Smith made it 4-2 for the Cardinals 1:25 apart at the 5:28 mark of the period before the Rebels fought back to tie the game by the end of the period.

Coon Rapids defenseman Alex Wojciehowski had one goal and one assist while goalie Patrick Drazkowski posted 30 saves in the loss.

Totino-Grace 7, St. Francis 1
Totino-Grace out shot St. Francis 38-17 in the North Suburban Conference game played in East Bethel Jan. 26.

The lone Fighting Saints goal came from Olli-Pekka Virtanen at the 13:17 mark of the first period. Four second period penalties by the Saints transitioned in two both second period goals for the Eagles who added two more special teams goals in the third period for the final score.

St. Francis goalie Darion Hanson made 31 saves in the loss.

Spring Lake Park 8, Robbinsdale Cooper 4
Spring Lake Park’s offense came alive with three goals in the first period and second period. Jake Matthys collected four points (two goals), Patrick Graves also had a four-point game with three assists and Andrew Frischmon added two goals as the Panthers out shot the Hawks 33-31. Panthers goalie Brandon Jones had 29 stops in the win.

Jake Kroll scored 55 seconds into the game to give Spring Lake Park the early lead with assists from Nick Turnquist and Jacob Nystrom.
