Boys Basketball: Feb. 2 recap and Coon Rapids photo gallery

Andover
Andover held on to a five-point halftime lead to top Robbinsdale Armstrong 59-56 in Robbinsdale for its second win of the season, halting a six game losing streak Feb. 2.

The Northwest Suburban Conference game took a higher pace in the second half as the Falcons out scored Andover 36-34. Kyle Kettler had a game-high 17 points and Devon Fellerman contributed 13 points in the win.

Blaine
Blaine couldn’t overcome a nine-point deficit at the half as Centennial defended its home court in a 66-61 Northwest Suburban Conference win Feb. 2. Blaine spread its offense across Tanner Schumacher 20 points, Alex Cappard 19 point and Josh Limberg’s 18 points while Becken had a game-high 25 points for Centennial.

Coon Rapids
Elk River pulled off a 74-62 win at Coon Rapids Feb. 2. The Elks jumped to a 38-28 advantage in the opening half as the Cardinals fight to come back fell short in the end. Coon Rapids turned things around in the second half but still was out scored 36-34 in the Northwest Suburban Conference loss. Adam Al-Hammad led the Cardinals with 18 points while EdVonte Hibler had 13 points.

Anoka
Northwest Suburban Conference leader Osseo leapt to a 47-19 score by halftime and increased that lead for a 83-48 final score as the Tornadoes played without the services of standout guard Marcus Tyus Feb. 2.

Anoka senior center Brandon Lindquist led the team with 13 points while Osseo’s  Bryan Gichaba had a game-high 18 points and Michael Brush added 16 points.

PACT
Maranatha Christian overwhelmed PACT Charter School 97-59 in a MCAA North Division contest Feb. 2. Panthers senior Drew Zieroth had led the team with 21 points and Danny Mooers had 13 points.
