Scott Hansen has made a career making light of his Minnesota roots.

Scott Hansen

Having spent much of his childhood in Ham Lake, Hansen has achieved fame for his audience interaction and comedic depiction of the “Minnesota situation.”

In a Valentine comedy show, Hansen will bring his local comedy voice to Green Haven Golf Course, adding his personal touch to the events surrounding the holiday.

Hansen started stand-up comedy in 1978, working one night a week.

After taking a couple of years off, he dedicated himself full-time to comedy in 1981.

Comedy proved a natural fit for Hansen, who describes both his parents as loving to laugh and tell jokes.

Hansen describes himself as an outcast growing up and used his sense of humor to defend himself.

Today, Hansen said his comedy shows are half to 75 percent improvised while he is one stage.

Often Hansen starts by poking fun at himself, then turning the tables on his audience.

Since first taking the stage, Hansen has been seen nationally on HBO, Showtime and Comedy Central.

He is also a five-time winner of the Minnesota Comedian of the Year award.

Hansen’s 20-plus years of laugh-filled, performances have set attendance records at comedy clubs, colleges and corporate events nationwide, according to a press release.

His national reputation has also earned him a spot appearing in concert with superstars Jay Leno, Jerry Seinfeld and Drew Carey.

The Scott Hansen Valentine comedy show is Saturday, Feb. 11, 8 p.m., at Green Haven Golf Course, 2800 Greenhaven Road, Anoka.

Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 the day of the show. Dinner and show tickets for two are $79.95.
