The St. Francis City Council unanimously approved a $127,730 contract to fence the new public works/police station building Feb. 6.
Midwest Fence will be fencing and installing gates for the public works/police station building.
Although the company’s October bid amount came in at $147,600, the scope of the project, which included three vertical pivot lift gates, was changed to reduce the cost.
With the northeast corner gate anticipated as being a low use gate, the type of gate was change to a standard chain link cantilever slide gate with exterior roller assemblies and a 1 hp industrial grade operator.
According to City Administrator Matt Hylen’s memo to the council, “This way, we are still able to keep a high security-automated gate at this location, but we are able to be very cost effective.”
