Andover home damaged by fire

Fire officials are investigating what could have caused a fire to start in an attached three-car garage and spread to parts of an Andover home, said Andover Fire Chief Dan Winkel.

Fire crews were called at about 7:20 p.m. Sunday evening (Feb. 12) to a home in the 14200 block of Crane St. N.W. The family was able to get out safely.

Winkel said the garage and contents inside were destroyed as well as two vehicles parked in the driveway. The attic and two upstairs bedrooms of the home were badly damaged and other areas of the home that were not touched by flames still have smoke and water damage.

Crews from the Anoka-Champlin, Ham Lake and Ramsey fire departments provided mutual aid assistance to the Andover Fire Department, according to Winkel. It took over two hours to put out the fire and crews were on-hand even longer to check for hot spots and begin cleaning up the damage.
