Folk and Americana music will be showcased at Coon Rapids Arts Commission’s third concert in its 2012 dessert and coffee concert series.
Dennis Warner will perform Thursday, March 8, 7 p.m., at the Coon Rapids Civic Center.
In addition to Warner’s performance March 8, there will be an exhibit by a local artist, plus dessert and beverage.
A folk/Americana musician and entertainer, Warner performs in over 100 cities each year with his vocals and six- and 12-string guitars.
He is also a guest speaker at various community gatherings throughout the country.
Warner’s credits include appearing on numerous regional television and radio programs as well as NPR’s “Great Acoustics, Live!” and “River City Folk.”
He has hosted his own radio special, “Jammin’ with Dennis Warner” broadcast by public radio affiliates, is about to release his ninth CD and is the author of the children’s book, “Beads on One String.”
Warner has been honored with a concert at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., for his songwriting talents.
He is a three-time “New Folk” finalist for songwriting at the international Texas-based Kerrville Folk Festival, co-founded by producer Rod Kennedy and legendary performer Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul and Mary fame.
Warner has also appeared multiple times at Nashville’s famed writers’ club, The Bluebird Café.
A Minnesota resident, Warner has visited every state during his 20-plus year career.
He tours solo and also with his band, “The D’s.”
The remaining concert in the 2012 series is Thursday, April 12, 7 p.m., when the Minneapolis Commodores will present barbershop harmony.
Admission includes dessert and beverage.
Tickets for each concert are $7 for adults and $5 for seniors 65 and older as well as children age 12 and under.
