Top-seeded Anoka-Ramsey Community College (28-2) began the final leg in its march to repeat as NJCAA Division III National Champions Thursday (March 15) as they defeated No. 8 seed Nassau Community College (New York) (22-4) 79-46.
Anoka-Ramsey shot 37.5 percent from behind the three point line and was equally hot from the free throw line (64 percent) as Capreice Ogris led the way with 27 points with five rebounds and came up with three steals on the defensive end. Erica Parker pulled in 10 rebounds and Tracy McGregor added eight rebounds and six points. Freshman Maria Louglin had 10 points as the Golden Rams made the most of Nassau’s turnovers to outscore them 34-4.
Anoka-Ramsey grew its lead to 36 points in the second half (69-33) in the first game of the tournament after leading 32-23 at halfime.
The Golden Rams face the winner of the Rock Valley Community College/Montgomery College-Rockville winner at 6 p.m. March 16 with the national championship slated for 8 p.m. March 17 inside UCR Regional Sports Complex in Rochester.
