Sipping for a cause with Ramsey Rotary

Once again it’s time to tip the glasses and raise money to benefit the community at the sixth annual Ramsey Rotary Club wine tasting.

More than 150 people came to the annual fifth annual Ramsey Rotary Club wine tasting in March 2011. Ramsey Rotarian Michelle Thatcher sampled wine from one of the many vendors. The event raise more than $8,000 for the club. This year’s goal is $10,000, said Rotary Club President Deb Thatcher. File photo by Tammy Sakry

The March 22 event at the Links at Northfork, 9333 Alpine Drive N.W., is the one fund-raising project the club has a year to raise funds for community projects, said Deb Thatcher, Rotary club president.

This year the event includes a live art auction, silent auction, two walls of wine to win and a chance to crack the safe and take home cash.

The art auction will have over 200 art prints from well-known artists, Thatcher said.

Thatcher would like to see the event, which runs from 5:30 to 9 p.m., bring in $10,000.

The money will be used for Youth First Community of Promise projects, the third-grade dictionary giveaway the Rotary club sponsors with the Anoka, Coon Rapids and Blaine clubs as well as the international Rotary project to eradicate polio, she said.

Last year’s event raised $8,000.

Advance tickets for the event are $15 and can be purchased from the Ramsey Rotary Club website, or from the Ramsey Coborn’s Liquor Store.

Tickets at the door are $20.
