Anoka looking to fill HRA staff vacancy

The city of Anoka is once again looking to fill a staff vacancy with its Housing and Redevelopment Authority.

Jim Robinson was hired last fall as the executive director of the HRA after Jennifer Bergman left to take a position in Brainerd. Robinson came to the Anoka from White Bear Lake, where he worked as community development director for 22 years.

But the city has decided not to permanently hire Robinson.

“We came to the end of the six-month probationary period and decided it didn’t work out,” said City Manager Tim Cruikshank, who did not share specifics on why Robinson wasn’t kept on.

Instead of hiring a new HRA executive director, the city is now seeking a housing coordinator for the department, said Cruikshank.

Meantime, Community Development Director Bob Kirchner will be filling in with the HRA, which he previously served as the executive director.
