Wanted: community service-minded people with a taste for excitement to join the St. Francis Fire Department.
The department is looking for both daytime and evening firefighters, said Fire Chief Dean Kapler.
Interested St. Francis residents can attend the April 14 orientation open house at the fire station, 3740 Bridge St., starting at 9 a.m.
In addition to coffee and refreshments, interested residents will learn about the job and the benefits of becoming paid-on call firefighters.
It is a way for community-minded residents to assist people in need, from fires to accidents, Kapler said.
Before becoming full-fledged firefighters, the applicants will have to pass the physical, background check and the state mandated classes for Firefighter I and hazardous materials.
Firefighters need to be able to committed to three to four training sessions per month, responding to emergency calls during their shift and working public activities, like Night to Unite and Pioneer Days, Kapler said.
For more information, call St. Francis City Hall at 763-753-2630.
