Don Shelby to present his new book at the library

Club Book, a program of the Metropolitan Library Service Agency (MELSA) and coordinated by the Library Foundation of Hennepin County, is bringing best-selling and award-winning national and regional authors to library communities across the seven-county metropolitan region.

Don Shelby, an Emmy Award-winning television news anchor, will present his book “The Season Never Ends: Wins, Losses, and Wisdom of the Court” Saturday, April 14, 2 p.m., at the Anoka County Library’s Rum River branch, 4201 6th Ave. in Anoka.

This program is free and open to the public, but seating is limited. Seating is first come, first seated. Books will be available for purchase and signing.

Shelby has won three National Emmys, two George Foster Peabody Awards, the National Distinguished Service Award by the Society of Professional Journalists, the International Radio and Television News Directors Association’s first-place honors for international investigative reporting, among others.

He retired from daily reporting and anchoring on WCCO in November 2010, after 45 years in the industry.

Shelby’s book, “The Season Never Ends: Wins, Losses, and Wisdom of the Court,” is a compilation of 20 years’ worth of stories about pivotal and inspiring basketball games.

“Don’s way with a phrase and interaction with his audience has made him a Minnesota favorite,” said Anoka County Commissioner Robyn West.

“Although the book is about basketball, it’s also a game plan for adding value to your life.”

This Club Book event, which is hosted by the Anoka County Library, is funded with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage fund.
