College update for the week of April 6

• Taylor Auman, Concordia University junior golfer and Coon Rapids graduate, finished third overall at the Wayne State Spring Invite at Wayne Country Club April 1-2 with a two-round score of 164 (83-81), four strokes back of Concordia teammate Molly Mullins.

• Eyo Ekpo, St. Thomas junior jumper and Andover graduate, scored 13 team points at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships in Grinnell, Iowa, March 10. Ekpo placed second in the triple jump with a career-best 50-2, four inches behind champion Mike Sandle of UW-River Falls and fourth in the high jump 6-9.

• Sam Miller,  St. Thomas sophomore pitcher/infielder and Anoka graduate, is hitting .324 (12-37) while in the field he has 33 fielding assists and 13 put outs and has started 14 of 17 games for the Tommies.

• Wes Satzinger, North Dakota State University sophomore infielder and Andover graduate, is hitting .305 (25-85) wtih six doubles, one home run and drove in 14 RBI while staring all 24 games for the Bison in 2012. He has one error in the field with 55 fielding assists and 43 put outs. Satzinger had a key ninth-inning bunt as the Bison won a record 12th straight win in a 4-3 score over the University of North Dakota April 1. Fellow Andover graduate, NDSU junior Kirk Kenneally has started in five games and played in 10 this spring going 2-for-18 at the plate with one home run, one double and four RBI.
