Nerds are welcomed and encouraged at the 19th annual Foundation 15 gala.
The gala, which raises scholarship funds for St. Francis School District 15 graduates, will be Friday, April 27 at The Refuge, 21250 Yellow Pine St., Oak Grove.
The cost is $100 for two guests. Single tickets are also available.
Come dressed in style and take home a souvenir photo taken with the geeks and nerds of the Foundation 15 board, said Joe Haag, foundation president.
Social hour starts at 6 p.m., which gives guest plenty of time to shop the silent auction.
Haag said there should be between 50 and 70 items to get the bids going.
This year’s live auction includes an outdoor garden bench with built-in flower pots, Haag said.
Some of the items have been crafted by St. Francis High School students, including the fire rings and Adirondack chairs.
The dinner, which includes pork loin and fish, will be served at 7 p.m.
The place mats will show the recipients of past scholarships, Haag said.
The places mats are the Foundation 15’s way of introducing the recipients to the people who raise the scholarship money, he said.
The night also includes a head-and-tails game, but Haag would not divulge what the prize is this year.
Capping the event will be the best costume award.
The prize is a free ticket for the 2013 Foundation 15 gala.
