The Anoka-Hennepin School Board has accepted the resignation of District 6 representative Kathy Tingelstad and plans to appoint an individual to complete her term.
District 6 currently represents the east portion of Coon Rapids and the southwest portion of Andover.
However, the school board must approve new election districts as a result of population shifts revealed in the 2010 U.S. Census.
Once cities have approved their precincts, the school board is able to revise the election districts.
The board is scheduled to vote on election district changes April 30.
Once boundaries of the election district have been established, citizens living in District 6 will be invited to apply by submitting a letter of interest by June 6, 4 p.m.
To be eligible for appointment, individuals must have been a resident of Election District 6 for 30 days at the time of their appointment.
They must also be an eligible voter age 21 or older.
The board will interview candidates in June and make a selection.
It is expected to approve the appointment at the July 9 board meeting.
