Evelyn Amonett

Memorial service for Evelyn West Amonett, 86, will take place Monday, April 16, 11 a.m., with visitation at 10 a.m., at First Congregational Church of Anoka. Revs. Sharron and Chris Fazel will officiate.

Amonett died April 8 in Coon Rapids. She was born June 2, 1925 to Elmer and Dora Johnson in Polk County, Wis.

She is survived by her daughter Kathy and husband Ed Hoffman; grandchildren, Deborah and Michael Masters and son Zachary, Bob Hoffman and daughter Meagan and daughter-in-law Lilly Hoffman and Chad and Carrie Hoffman and daughter Karlie; brothers and sisters, Maxine and Don Berndt, Ellsworth and Arlene Johnson, Elmer and Darlene Johnson, Muriel and Ivan Paulson and David and Judy Johnson; sister-in-law, Elna West; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Elwood West and Bert Amonett; and daughter. LuAnn West.

 

Margaret Ward-Anderson

Funeral service for Margaret Ward-Anderson (Zappa), 85, took place April 4 at Church of St. Vincent de Paul, Brooklyn Park.

Ward-Anderson died March 31. She was born in Cumberland, Wis.

She is survived by her husband, James Anderson; grandchildren, Travis and Hayden Johnson, ClayLon, Andy and Daniel Galloway, Paige and Noah Draney; sisters, Nora Anderson, Marian Kramer, Violet (Jerry) Crooker; brother, Franklin (Elaine) Zappa; sister-in-law, Adeline Zappa; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Anna Zappa; sister, Betty; brother, Norman; sister, Evelyn; and nephews, Ronald Carson, Gray Frechette.

Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel.

 

Lavern Brandt

Funeral service for Lavern E. Brandt, 76, Blaine, took place April 12 at Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel.

Brandt was a member of Teamsters Local 544.

He is survived by his wife, LaRee; children, Dean (Tracy), Karla Nowlan, Kimberly (Dennis) Anderson and David (Carolyn); 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother and sisters; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Douglas; and great-grandson, Dane.

Interment was at Epiphany Cemetery, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel.

 

James Crawford

Memorial service for James W. Crawford, 99, Champlin, will take place Friday, April 20, 11 a.m., at United Methodist Church of Anoka. Rev. Bill Eaves will officiate.

Crawford died April 4 at Heart of Home Residence, Mendota Heights. He was born March 19, 1913 in Macksburg, Iowa, to Gardner Daniel and Bonnie Marie (Southworth) Crawford and was retired postal clerk for the U.S. Postal Service.

He is survived by his children, Kathy (Gary) Roberts, Jim (Adele), Robert, Richard (Teresa), John (Barbara); eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Charles; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence.

Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

 

Linda Gunderson

Memorial service for Linda Susan (Johnson) Gunderson, 61, Andover, will take place tomorrow (Saturday, April 14), 11 a.m., at Glen Cary Lutheran Church, Ham Lake, with visitation one hour before the service.

Gunderson died April 3 following a battle with cancer.

She is survived by her husband, Galen; daughters, Tammy Picotte (Travis), Tiffany Denny; son, Jeffrey Gunderson (Melissa); grandchildren, Ryan, Brandon, Kayla Denny and Karley Picotte; mother, Bette Johnson; sisters, Patrice Fournier (Larry) and Sharon Sajady (Yssaq); brother, Robert Johnson; mother-in-law, Elna Gunderson; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Johnson.

 

Leslie Habben 

Funeral service for Leslie A. “Les” Habben, 81, Blaine, took place April 6 at Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel.

He is survived by his wife, Jan; children, Cindy (Jim) Mielke, Sharyn (Joe) Galloway, Todd (Kim) Habben and Randy Habben; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Lillian; and many other relatives and friends.

Clair Hamilton 

Memorial service for Clair Hamilton, 73, Andover, took place March 30 at Andover Christian Church.

Hamilton died March 23. He spent his career in electronics, working 33 years for FMC/BAE and was the inventor of the electronic furnace control.

He is survived by his wife, Dolly; children, Bob, Larry, Roxan, Danny, Nancy and Dee; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; siblings, Allan, Ida, Harry and Kathy; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Annie; and siblings, Carl, Darlene, Dutch, James and Barbara.

Arrangements were by Kozlak-Radulovich Blaine Chapel.

 

Roger Hesselroth

Memorial service for Roger D. Hesselroth, 81, Coon Rapids, took place at Faith Lutheran Church, Coon Rapids.

Hesselroth was a 34-year employee of IBM.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis “Tudy;” children, Dale Hesselroth, Denise Hesselroth and Ted (Alba) Hesselroth; grandchildren, Sara, Jake, Emily, Maggie, Amy and Sam; brother, Gordy (Anne); sister, Janet (Jim) Lassell; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Warren; and son-in-law, Dan Anderson.

Helen Jackson

Memorial service for Helen Dale Jackson, 85, Anoka, took place April 9 at Walker Plaza, Anoka.

She is survived by her sons, Andrew (Denise), Thomas (Lori); grandchildren, Benjamin, Carla, and Thomas Jr; and other family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, G. Edward Jackson.

Arrangements were by Methven-Taylor Anoka Chapel.

 

Emerson Lillibridge Jr.

Funeral service for Emerson H. Lillibridge Jr., 77, Coon Rapids, took place April 12 at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka.

Lillibridge died April 8.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; daughters, Debbie Lillibridge and Kathi (Doug) Reznecheck; granddaughters, Amie Seeling, Amanda (Scott) Johnson and Aleah Reznecheck; great-grandchildren, Paige, Chloe, Jenna, Tyler and Breya; and sisters, Joanne (Robert) Johnson and Corinne (Richard) Johnson.

Clarence Ostendorf

Funeral service for Clarence B. Ostendorf, 88, Coon Rapids, took place April 9 at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Blaine.

Ostendorf died April 3. He was born Feb. 1 1924 in Krain Township. He was a veteran of World War II and a retired 25-year employee of District 11 schools.

He is survived by his children, Sue (Dennis) Sufka, Warren (Deena), Connie (Lenny) Skogman, Margaret (Del) Theisen, Roland (Denise), Greg (Marie), Renee (Steve) Larson, Carmen Campbell, Carla (Scott) Libby, Kathy Kelly; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Veronica Morgel; brother, Larry; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella; and seven siblings.

Interment was at Epiphany Cemetery, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.

 

James Ryan

Funeral service for James Frank Ryan, 69, Blaine, took place April 5 at Thurston-DeShaw Funeral Home, Andover. Rev. Shawn Phillips officiated.

Ryan died suddenly April 2 at Mercy Hospital from pancreatic cancer. He was born Sept. 6, 1942 in Chicago, Ill., to James Leslie and Amy (Cikanek) Ryan.

He was a lifetime member of the Mailers Union and worked for the Wall Street Journal, Quino Press, Daily News, Sun Times and Chicago Tribune in Chicago before moving to Minnesota in 1986 where he worked for the Star Tribune until retirement in 2008.

He is survived by his sons, James M. (Diane) and Michael; girlfriend, Barbara Stringer; brother, Michael (Julia) of Hinsdale, Ill.; and many other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James (Bud) and Amy; and wives, Michele Burson Ryan and Alice Solner Ryan.

Arrangements were by Thurston-DeShaw Funeral Home, Andover.

 

Kathleen Tomlinson

Funeral service for Kathleen D. Tomlinson, 67, Ramsey, took place April 12 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Tomlinson died April 8. She was born Aug. 8, 1944 in Minneapolis and was a manager in the hotel industry.

She is survived by her children, Ann Pesch (Jeff Boettcher), Paul (Jessica) Creuzer and Michael Creuzer (Andrea Bucci); grandson, Colby Boettcher; and brother, Gerald (Linda) Monahan.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn Monahan.

Interment was private. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.

 

Gary Tykeson 

Funeral service for Gary Neil “Tyke” Tykeson, 74, Spring Lake Park, took place April 3 at Christ Lutheran Church, Blaine.

Tykeson died March 30 after a three-month battle with cancer. He was born in Kennedy.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy; children, Julie (Don) Breitbach, John, Jeff (Laura) and Jennifer (Matt) Kennedy; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jake, Ben, Morgan, Evie and Henrik; sister, Jewell (LeRoy) Johnson; brother, Deisel (Jean); and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nettie Tykeson.

Interment was private at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Kozlak-Radulovich Blaine Chapel.
