Wet, wildly fun at Springbrook

Visitors to Springbrook Nature Center’s Spring Fling, an annual celebration of spring, were met last weekend at noon with a sprinkling by Mother Nature.

Undaunted, the fun seekers grabbed umbrellas and raincoats and proceeded through the center’s Trail of Discovery where they met up with famous storybook characters.

“While numbers were down because of the rain, the many people who did come out had fun and laughed at the spring showers, and many seemed to enjoy the rain,” said Siah St. Clair, Springbrook’s director.

“We needed it badly, but the timing might have been a little better.”

This year, despite inclement weather, about 850 attended the event. Last year, on a more balmy pre-Easter day, 1,292 attended.

Springbrook Nature Center is located at 100 85th Ave. N.E. in Fridley.
