A project to reconstruct 133rd Avenue this summer from Coon Creek to Hanson boulevards was approved by the Coon Rapids City Council by unanimous vote April 3.
Following a public/assessment hearing March 20 at which no one objected, there was not the required 6-1 super majority of the council present to give the required approval because two members were absent.
The reconstruction of the one-mile stretch of 133rd Avenue is a joint project with the city of Andover since 133rd is a border street between the two cities.
The Andover City Council approved the project last month and both councils have approved a joint powers agreement that details the project’s cost sharing.
Andover is handling the plan preparation, which is now taking place, the bidding process, contract award and construction inspection work.
The two cities will be splitting the cost, estimated at $395,000.
