The Coon Rapids American Legion Auxiliary will host a testimonial lunch at the Legion post Saturday, April 21, 11 a.m., to honor one of its members, Laura Blue, who is completing her year as 10th District Legion Auxiliary president.
Blue is a 20-year member of Coon Rapids Unit 334.
In that time, she has served at the unit level as executive committee member, two years as secretary, first and second vice president and two years as unit president.
She has also chaired unit committees, including the blood program for five years, funeral lunches, poppy and membership for three years.
At the district level, Blue served two years on the executive committee as well as sergeant-at-arms and treasurer.
Her chairmanships include community service, public relations, poppy, education and membership co-captain and chairman.
She also served as district page for several years.
At the department level, Blue has been an alternate to the national convention and a page at many department conventions.
In addition, she served a three-year term on the American Legion Family Hospital Association.
Blue, who works with her father at their tax preparer business, is a member of the 40&8 Cabane Local 390 of Minnesota and Anoka Wesleyan Church.
Her husband, Dennis, is an active member of the Coon Rapids Squadron 334 Sons of the American Legion, serving as district commander for two years and detachment commander for two years as well as national vice commander.
The Blues have two daughters, Keri and Elizabeth, who are members of Unit 334, while their son, David, is an active member of Squadron 334.
They also have a granddaughter, Brook, and grandsons, Austin and Cale.
