Jersey Mike’s Subs opens in Coon Rapids

Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled East Coast-style subs, officially opened its doors in Coon Rapids April 18.

Franchise owners John Griparis and Jeff Berns have a grand opening and free sub fund-raiser through Sunday, April 22 to support Coon Rapids High School, Anoka High School, Coon Rapids Middle School and Sand Creek Elementary School.

The new restaurant, located at 3473 River Rapids Drive N.W., has circulated thousands of coupons throughout the community, offering a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution to Coon Rapids High School, Anoka High School, Coon Rapids Middle School and Sand Creek Elementary School.

Griparis and Berns are planning a follow-up fund-raiser Monday, April 23 through Sunday, April 29.

Each of the four schools will receive a supply of “Free Chip and Drink” coupons (with purchase of any sub).

For each coupon turned in on behalf of one of the schools, Jersey Mike’s will donate $1 to that particular school.

Then at the end of the fund-raiser, Jersey Mike’s will match the earned amount for the school with the greatest participation.

Started at the Jersey Shore in 1956, Jersey Mike’s continued its steady growth in 2011 opening 69 new restaurants throughout the country, a 15 percent increase overall.

Jersey Mike’s selects franchise owners who share the company’s commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service and who are dedicated to giving back to the local community.

In 2011, locations throughout the country raised more than $2 million for local charities and distributed more than 200,000 free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes.

“Jersey Mike’s has allowed us the opportunity to make a great impact on our community,” said Berns.

“Partnering with four schools is a great way for us to connect with local residents and form relationships with students from kindergarten through 12th grade.”
