The Coon Rapids Ice Center will host 2012 World Junior Silver Medalist and U.S. Junior Champion Gracie Gold during two special performances of the 23rd annual Ice Fantasy show titled, “Fun in the Sun.”
The show features skaters from the city and surrounding communities.
The performers will skate to a variety of music in the “Fun in the Sun” show. A popular part of the show is the father-daughter performance, featuring 24 couples.
Skaters range in age from four to adult.
Three community performances will take place: Friday, April 27, 7 p.m.; Saturday, April 28, 6:30 p.m.; and Sunday, April 29, 2 p.m.
Gold will perform at the Saturday and Sunday shows. There will also be a 30-minute “meet and greet” event after the performances.
She will not be able to perform at the Friday program due to prior commitments.
Gold, known as one of the best jumpers in the United States, is one of only two female skaters selected to compete for the ISU World Team Trophy in Tokyo, Japan, later this month.
She first started skating at the age of seven. Aside from her skating awards, Gold is also a member of the National Honor Society and won the Presidential Award for Academic Excellence.
Gold trains at the Wagon Wheel Figure Skating Club in Chicago, Ill.
Tickets for all of the performances are on sale at the ice center. They can also be purchased at the door.
Ticket prices for the Friday night show are $6 for adults and $4 for students and senior citizens. For the Saturday and Sunday shows featuring Gold, tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens.
