Coon Rapids boys finish last in golf’s first conference tournament

In Monday’s Northwest Suburban Conference golf tournament staged at the Golden Valley Country Club, last place Coon Rapids finished 36 strokes behind team tournament champion Maple Grove.

Only three strokes separated Andover, Blaine and Anoka – the teams finishing at third, fourth and fifth place for the tournament, respectively.

District 11’s best golfer for the tournament turned out to be Andover’s Sam Steinwand who finished with 78 strokes – just one stroke ahead of teammate David Tollette and Blaine’s Dakota Krech, who each finished at 79.

The next Northwest Suburban Conference golf tournament was scheduled for yesterday (Thursday) at the Links at Northfork. The third contest tees off Monday (April 30) at Rush Creek.
