The Anoka County Historical Society is offering a new program, “Ladies Night Out at the Museum,” Thursdays, May 3 and 17, 6 to 8 p.m., at the Anoka County History Center. Registration is required in advance and the cost is $10 for non-members and $7 for historical society members.
“In conjunction with our new exhibit opening ‘Clothing the County, Fashion for Every Occasion’ May 1, we are offering a special program for ladies night out,” said Elaine Koehn, historical society volunteer coordinator.
An exhibition of clothing from the permanent collections of the historical society will feature more than two dozen dresses, gowns, uniforms and more.
This exhibition examines the history of fashion including trendy society to working clothing.
Strolling models dressed in period clothing will be available to discuss fashion trends for women in earlier times.
Following the tour, the models will join the ladies for tea, pastries and a brief discussion about formal and everyday aprons that women would have worn when hosting a social function.
“The teas provide an excellent opportunity for friends or mothers and daughters to spend quality time together, while learning and having fun,” Koehn said.
