Students attending are candidates for Girls and Boys State, which takes place in June.

On the tour the students were able to meet and listen to County Administrator Jerry Soma, Commissioners Dan Erhart, Rhonda Sivarajah, Matt Look and Andy Westerberg, plus County Attorney Tony Palumbo and Sgt. Tim Day of the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office.

The students were also given a tour of the jail and central communications department.

Anoka Post 102 Chairman Cliff Newman and Anoka American Legion Auxiliary Unit Chairwoman Kathy Zwerdling set up the event, and Auxiliary members Lynette Pavin, Karen Orr and Darlene Thell helped chaperone the students, while members Sandy Phillips and Betty Erickson prepared and served a lunch at the Post for all who could attend.
