The Bryan Nichols Quartet will present a program featuring famous jazz composers at the Anoka County Rum River Library Saturday, May 5 at 2 p.m.
Learn the importance of original composition in the evolution of jazz music and history, and listen to works by Ellington, Monk, Shorter and more.
The quartet features Bryan Nichols on piano, Adam Linz on bass, Mike Lewis on saxophone and JT Bates on drums.
“Normally libraries are quiet places but this quartet is certain to have the audience tapping their toes and snapping their fingers,” said Anoka County Commissioner and Anoka County Library Board liaison Jim Kordiak.
“Plus it’s a great way to learn about one of America’s oldest musical art forms.”
The Bryan Nichols Quartet is presented by the MacPhail Center for Music and Anoka County Library in partnership with MELSA (Metropolitan Library Service Agency) and is funded with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
This program is free and open to the public, but seating may be limited.
The Rum River Library is located at 4201 Sixth Ave. in Anoka.
