Suicide attempt at Anoka County Government Center

A 55-year-old Circle Pines man attempted suicide by jumping off the fifth floor of the parking ramp at the Anoka County Government Center about 7 a.m. this morning (April 30).

The male jumped from the parking ramp into an alley between the parking ramp and the Anoka County Jail.

The alley is used for delivery of prisoners and supplies to the jail.

According to Cmdr. Paul Sommer, Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, the male survived the jump, but was transported to Mercy Hospital and is listed in “critical” condition with multiple injuries.

First responders located a suicide note in the pocket of the victim and law enforcement records show a past history of suicide threats, Sommer said.
