Kenneth Berre

Funeral service for Kenneth M. Berre, 88, took place May 1 at Gearhart Anoka Funeral Home.

Berre died April 25 in Osseo. He was born Jan. 20, 1924 in Cottonwood.

Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart Anoka Funeral Home.


Floyd Brabant

Funeral service for Floyd Brabant, 86, took place April 27 at Church of St. Stephen, Anoka.

Brabant died April 23 in Brooklyn Park. He was born Dec. 26, 1925 in Minneapolis.

Interment was at Calvary Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Gearhart Anoka Funeral Home.

Alex Burckhard

Funeral service for Alex Burckhard, 85, Andover, formerly of Bloomington, took place April 30 at the Church of St. Stephen, Anoka.

Burckhard is a retired 34-year employee of Minnegasco.

He is survived by his wife, Isabel; children, Alexis (Tom) Funk, Mike, Bruce (Lorrie), Coleen Burckhard, Maria (Wayne) Dziubinski, Marie (Dave) Kolar; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Zych; and other relatives and friends.

Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel.

Kenneth Hanson

Funeral service for Kenneth Warren Hanson, 87, Anoka, formerly of Coon Rapids, took place April 30 at First Baptist Church of Anoka. Rev. Abe Cardosa officiated.

Hanson died April 24. He was born March 27, 1925 in Gonvick to Clarence and Carrie (Mahlum) Hanson. He was an infantryman in World War II, fighting at the Battle of the Bulge, then after training to be a carpenter, he worked for a builder in Anoka for 19 years before starting Hanson Builders with his son, Dean, in 1979. He retired in 1988.

He is survived by his wife, Ramona; children, Trudy (John) Delich, Dean (Catherine), Twyla (Dan) Beyers, Terri (Rob) Johnson and Tammy (Jerry) Melchisedeck; 19 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Clarice Campbell; sister-in-law, Florence Hanson; and many nieces and nephews.

Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery, Clearbrook. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Paul Pierce Jr.

Funeral service for Paul Pierce Jr., 79, Anoka, will take place at 2 p.m. May 24 at the United Methodist Church, Anoka.

Pierce died April 22. He was a longtime Anoka businessman. At Anoka High School he was awarded an “A” rating in the Minnesota State Music Contest and sang in his first opera in November 1957 in the St. Paul Opera Workshop production of “Carmen” when he played “Remendado.” He performed in many more operas, plays, musicals, operettas, local television and radio programs and sang solo for several large churches in Minneapolis and St. Paul. In 1965 he created the Anoka Theatre Ensemble and in the 1970’s he did the “We Like It Here” radio show for the chamber of commerce.

He is survived by his wife, Winness and her family; son, Paul III and daughter, Elizabeth Therkildsen their families; and first wife, Shirley.


Spencer Reutzel

Funeral service for Spencer Lane Reutzel, four months, Coon Rapids, took place April 28 at the Lentz Funeral Home in Burt. Rev. Dr. Glenn Wilson officiated.

He died April 16 at Fairview Hospital in Burnsville. He was born Dec. 12, 2011 in Fridley to Kevin Reutzel and Saengdao Larson

He is survived by his parents; sister, Chloe Reutzel of Coon Rapids; brothers, Tommy Larson and Sebastian Reutzel of Coon Rapids; grandparents, Myron and Sharon Reutzel of Burt, Roy and Marie Larson of Blaine; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Interment was at the Harrison Township Cemetery in Swea City. Arrangements were by the Lentz Funeral Home in Burt.
