Ray McManus is sponsoring eight of the nine concerts planned as part of the Thursday Nites LIVE! at the Dam concert series.

Lynne said he wanted to thank McManus for the donation, especially during this time of budget cuts.

“I’m proud to be part of the concert series and thank you for sponsoring it,” Lynne said April 25.

McManus said he decided to sponsor the concerts because “it was the right thing to do.”

“We’re from here and we make our living here,” he said. “This neighborhood has been really good to us.”

McManus urged other local businesses to give back to the community as well.

“A little bit of help makes a big difference,” he said. “Pay it forward.”

McManus describes the concert series, which opens June 7, as “good, family fun.”

The concerts are free and begin at 7 p.m. and are held at Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park picnic/performance pavilion, 9750 Egret Blvd., rain or shine.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket. Food is available for purchase.

During the concerts, park admission fees are waived.

The concerts include:

• June 7, Rockin’ Hollywoods

• June 14, Dan Perry and Ice Cream

• June 21, Rockie Lynne

• June 28, Elvis Experience

• July 12, Minnesota Sinfonia

• July 19, Bill Koncar

• July 26, Island Time Band

• Aug. 2, Betty Rydell and Randi Rae

• Aug. 9, The Hillbilly Mafia.

The June 21 Rockie Lynne concert will take place at Sand Creek Park and is his first in the area in two years.

The July 12 Minnesota Sinfonia concert is sponsored by the Pentair Foundation.
