Grass fires still plague area fire departments

One Blaine-Spring Lake Park fire chief attended a public hearing on a new state code for construction of mobile homes in the state. The code, which is to take effect in July this year, is primarily for the construction of the home so that the buyer will get value for his money.

There were 11 fire and emergency calls last week.

First call, Monday afternoon at 12:05, was to 2549-101st Avenue in Blaine. An overheated space heater was emitting much smoke and threatening to ignite the surrounding area.
