While stroke or “brain attack” is common among the elderly, a lot of people under 65 also have strokes.
To help people determine their stroke risk and learn how to help prevent stroke, Mercy Hospital is offering low-cost screening and education.
The screening is Saturday, May 19 from 7 to 8:45 a.m. and includes a health questionnaire, cholesterol and glucose blood test, body mass index, blood pressure and pulse check.
Participants will review their results with a health professional.
At 9 a.m., Dr. Masood Ghazali, Minneapolis Clinic of Neurology, will describe the warning signs of stroke and the importance of early treatment.
The event cost is $10. Pre-registration is necessary by calling 1-866-904-9962 or register online for this event at http://health.allina.com/events/2815.
