Meeting for the first time

It was a long awaited meeting between the generations as pen pals came face to face.

Since the school year began last fall, third- and fourth-grad students at University Elementary School and the senior citizens at Blaine Senior Center have been corresponding by letter. Until May 8, they had never met each other.

According to teacher Lisa Sorenson, who coordinated the letter writing project, she was looking for an activity that would involve the community and bring it closer together.
