Blaine council hears domed stadium presentation; approves road plan

The Blaine Council listened to a presentation by Al White, of White Investment Co., regarding their proposal to construct a domed stadium, motel and night club complex in Blaine.

White appeared at the Thursday, May 18 Council meeting asking “public support for the proposal.” Councilmen viewed an artist’s concept of the domed stadium which was said to be comparable to those located in Colorado and Oregon.

SLP Tower Days celebration June 4-10

Spring Lake Park Tower Days Committee is in the final planning stages for the annual community celebration June 4-10.

Plans are for a medallion hunt, sports night, royalty fashion show and pageant, grande day parade, racquetball weekend, bed race, 5K fun run, amusements, community skate and tennis tournament.

The medallion hunt will be held June 4-10. Clues will be posted daily at area businesses, first clue in flyer.

Frank’s no-hitter

Blaine’s regular-season finish of eight wins in 10 games did not result in a conference championship. It did, however, open many eyes.

And pitcher Jon Frank performed a considerable amount of the eye-opening surgery with a no-hit performance against Roseville in the regular-season finale May 18. It was Frank’s third consecutive superb outing coming on the heels of his victories over Coon Rapids and Stillwater.
