Man pleads guilty to crimminal sexual conduct charge

A man, accused in Anoka County District Court of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl at a Ham Lake residence, has pleaded guilty to a second-degree criminal sexual conduct charge in a plea agreement May 21.

Gary Richard Johnson, 59, Hopkins, has originally been charged with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct. Sentencing was set for Aug. 23.

The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division (CID) received a report June 3, 2011 of the sexual assault, according to the complaint.

The incidents were reported by the girl at a family gathering at a Ham Lake residence, where Johnson was once a roommate.

And in a statement to investigators, the girl gave details of the sexual assaults.
