Andover man faces charges for threats over incident with air gun

A 23-year-old Andover man is facing a felony terroristic threat charge after allegedly threatening another man with an air-soft gun that he modified to make it look like a real gun.

Aaron Michael Kreitz, 16064 Yellow Pine St. N.W., was arraigned May 16 in Anoka County District Court. His next court appearance is June 13.

According to the criminal complaint, Anoka County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to Kreitz’ home address at 7:56 p.m. May 14 on a report of a gun threat.

The caller told police that Kreitz had allegedly pulled out what looked like a chrome-colored handgun and asked “Have you ever been jacked?” He believed the gun was real and threw up his hands to deflect the gun, according to the complaint.

He ran next door to a neighbor’s house and called 911 and allegedly told police that he was afraid for his life.

Deputies later learned that the gun was an air-soft gun and that Kreitz had allegedly cut off the orange tip to make it look like a real gun.
