Fire departments battle pesky Blaine blaze

Spring Lake Park-Blaine-Mounds View (SBM) firefighters were assisted Saturday by the Centennial Fire Department at the scene of a two-story house fire.

According to SBM Battalion Chief Doug Nelson, fire crews were called to the block of 10500 Alamo Street shortly before 3 p.m.

When firefighters arrived, they found a three-car garage burning, Nelson said.

Once the garage fire was knocked down, fire crews checked to see if the fire had spread, he said.

The fire was under control shortly before 4 p.m. SBM crews remained on the scene until almost 7 p.m. with salvage operations.

The vinyl siding on a neighboring home received minor heat damage and a car in the damaged home’s driveway was heavily damaged, Nelson said.

The Red Cross provided assistance to residents.
