Andover man accused of owning, sharing child porn on computer

A 22-year-old Andover man was arraigned May 30 in Anoka County District Court on five felony charges of possessing pornographic work involving minors.

Aaron Anthony Regnier, 913 139th Ave. N.W., will make his next court appearance June 28. He was released on his own recognizance at his first appearance.

According to the criminal complaint, a federal search warrant was executed at the home where Regnier lives on Sept. 29, 2009.

The warrant was premised on the possession and/or sharing of child pornography via a file sharing program which was discovered in Europe. Through the tracing of IP addresses, authorities responded to this Andover home.

Located in the lower level of the home were multiple computers. Multiple DVDs were allegedly under Regnier’s bed. In addition, material later confirmed as controlled substances were found in the lower level. This included cocaine and marijuana.

The computers and DVDs were searched for potential child pornography. Authorities allegedly found 95 images of what appeared to be child pornography and four videos of child pornography on the computers as well as five images and videos on the DVDs.

These items were further investigated and confirmed as children when the items were created. This confirmation was conducted by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, according to the complaint.
