Lady Bengals finish eighth in Class AAA girls golf tournament

Competing in its second consecutive appearance at the Class AAA girls’ state golf tournament, Blaine High School finished eighth when the final strokes were counted June 13.

Junior Hannah Andrews was the lady Bengals’ top golfer in the tournament, staged June12 and 13 at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids.

Hannah finished in the middle of the pack, tied for 45th, shooting 177 strokes in the two-day tournament, four strokes ahead of her sister, freshman Caroline Andrews, who finished 53rd, and two ahead of teammate senior Leah Swanson who would finish in 50th place overall.

Fellow lady Bengals, senior Rylee Slotsve shot a 187 (67th), junior Karie Francen hit 191 (73rd) and her sister, freshman Jenna Francen, shot 202 (85th).

Each team’s best four scores from each day are used to calculate the total strokes to determine team placings in the tournament.
