Probation for domestic assault incident

It was determined June 12 in Anoka County District Court during a sentencing hearing that a 39-year-old Andover man will be on probation the next two years due to a domestic assault incident.

Phillip Joseph Carlson was originally charged with felony domestic assault, but he pleaded guilty to gross misdemeanor domestic assault on March 26 and was sentenced at that level.

According to the criminal complaint, Carlson’s ex-girlfriend said he grabbed her around the neck, threw her to the ground, held her there and punched her in the stomach while she was on the phone with the 911 dispatcher.

Carlson was convicted in April 2011 of interfering with a 911 call and misdemeanor domestic assault, according to the complaint.

The court also fined Carlson $135.
