The Playaz, a homeschool Shakespearean theater group, June 5 performed a contemporary staging of “Romeo and Juliet” in association with Lyric Arts Main Street Stage in Anoka. This is the group’s
second performance on a legitimate stage. Cast members and crew were Laura Steblay (Benvolio), Deveny Miles (Mercutio, Sampson) and Grace Bell (Juliet). Second row: Rob Jewell (Friar Lawrence, Lord Montague), Taylor Zaic (Lady Capulet, Abram), Emma Ludwig (Lady Montague, Apothecary), Camryn Monzo (Tybalt) and Ellen Monzo (stage manager, costumer). Third row: Noah Gruber (Prince, Tybalt’s second), Jennifer Ludwig (Nurse, Prince’s Assistant), Megan Steblay (Lord Capulet, Balthasar, John, servant), Andrew Jewell (Romeo), Jordan Costa (Paris, Gregory), Samantha King (lighting and tech) and Maria Bell (sound). Students are mostly high school age and draw from the Anoka County area and beyond.
