Changes underway at Epiphany Church

There’s a changing of the guard at Church of the Epiphany, Coon Rapids.

According to the church’s weekly bulletin, Rev. Dennis Zehren, pastor, and Revs. Gregory Abbott and Alex Carlson, associate pastors, have received new assignments in the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis.

Zehren will be pastor at Nativity of Mary in Bloomington effective July 1 and on the same date, Abbott will become pastor at St. Bernard’s in Cologne as well as the Church of the Ascension in Norwood Young America.

Carlson began his new assignment June 15 as an associate pastor at St. Ambrose in Woodbury.

Taking Zehren’s place as pastor at Epiphany June 30 will be Rev. Thomas Dufner, who was an associate pastor at Epiphany in the early 1990s.

For the past 17 years, Dufner has been pastor at Holy Family Catholic Church in St. Louis Park.

Epiphany’s new associate pastor, Rev. Michael Johnson, began June 16.

Ordained in 2009, Johnson has served at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in New Brighton.

A send-off for Carlson took place June 10, while farewells to Zehren and Abbott were June 17.
