The July 4th Coon Lake Boat Parade begins at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 4 in front of Anoka County Park, which is just east of the boat landing.
The Anoka County Water Patrol will be closely monitoring the boat parade this year because in the past there have been several incidents of injuries to children and others.
There has also been damage to boats because of people throwing frozen water balloons, using slingshots and high-pressured water pumping devices. Boaters and people on shore have caused these problems.
The water patrol wants people to know that throwing water balloons on the lake is considered littering and the violator could be fined.
Anyone injuring another person will be held responsible.
