Celebrating Independence Day in Anoka

Anoka hosted its ice cream social Wednesday, July 4 where root beer floats were served up to the crowd that came out to enjoy some sweet treats and good music from noon to 3 p.m.

The North Suburban Concert Band put on a performance at George Green Park for the annual festivities and included many patriotic favorites in its set lists.

It was a brave crowd that came out despite scorching temperatures that hit 100 degrees later that afternoon. So the ice cream along with city of Anoka hand fans were hot items at the celebration.
The city also held its fireworks display on the evening of Tuesday, July 3.
